Congress wants to take away your internet.

Originally posted by dynamicsymmetry at Congress wants to take away your internet.
Folks, I know you're tired of me yelling at you, but you should be aware that there's a hearing this morning being held by the US House Judiciary Committee on a "copyright" bill that will essentially break the entire internet. You like the internet, right? I mean, you're here. From the link above:
As drafted, the legislation would grant the government and private parties unprecedented power to interfere with the Internet's domain name system (DNS). The government would be able to force ISPs and search engines to redirect or dump users' attempts to reach certain websites' URLs. In response, third parties will woo average users to alternative servers that offer access to the entire Internet (not just the newly censored U.S. version), which will create new computer security vulnerabilities as the reliability and universality of the DNS evaporates. It gets worse: Under SOPA's provisions, service providers (including hosting services) would be under new pressure to monitor and police their users’ activities. While PROTECT-IP targeted sites “dedicated to infringing activities,” SOPA targets websites that simply don’t do enough to track and police infringement (and it is not at all clear what would be enough). And it creates new powers to shut down folks who provide tools to help users get access to the Internet the rest of the world sees (not just the “U.S. authorized version”).
This is being framed as an attempt to fight hackers and pirates. Don't buy it. And don't think for a minute that it's going to stop there. This is bad. And at the hearing today, only one opponent of the bill is being allowed to testify. Please do whatever you can to fight this. Email congresspeople. Sign petitions. Yell about it in every venue you can. And/or

Wow, long time no post. So much has been going on, I don't even know where to start.

I've been trying to work in Music, acting as a booking agent and manager to a few bands and solo acts. I really love it, but it's more of a very time consuming hobby right now. Not making any money at it. Still love it though.

Personally, The marriage is better than it has been in a very long time, for which I'm truly grateful. My husband has decided to be the supportive creature I always saw in him. My daughter, Keira, is now two, with all the fun that comes along with it. She's got her own kitten that is glued to her hip. It's the cutest thing imaginable. really.

In sadder news, this week I experianced a miscarriage, which is what brought me back to LJ. I remembered how supportive the pregnancy group here was when I was first pregnant, so I choose to try to find it again. So far, I haven't seen it for women going through miscarriages, but that's ok. I've found some amazing support centers in my city, as well and friends and family that are helping me through.

I've also dealt with being diagnosed with Temporal Lobe Epilepsy. That one threw me for a loop. After Keira was born, I started having problems. I thought they were panic attacks or something similar. went on antidepressents and all that, but it just kept getting worse. Then I began to have issues at work, where i'd black out for periods of time, and the people I worked with thought I was sleeping. I ended up in the hospital for a week with it. After multiple MRI's and three nuro's, my most recent one finally found proof that I'm epliptic, and have probably been my whole life, just the pregnancy hormones changed it.

Here is a picture of the child, because being a mother I find her to be the most perfect thing alive, unless she's throwing things at me.

On to the pictures.Collapse )

Here she is in her summer dress. IT was sooo cute until it got chocolate on it.

Corn on the Cob, NOM!!!!

She found Mommy's shoes... and refused to take them off.

And this is Ozzy, Keira's kitten. Or as she calls him, Ossthy.

Writer's Block: The winning ticket

What would be your first purchase if you won the lottery?

I'd pay off my house, then buy tickets to Japan.

I may start working with Kpop...
